Ayurveda changed how I understand my own body
After years of treating symptoms instead of causes, I discovered a 4,000-year-old science that finally made sense: one that treats you as a whole person — body, mind, and spirit together.
Ayurveda isn't about quick fixes. It's about understanding your unique balance — and what throws it off.
The name says it all: Ayur (life) + Veda (knowledge) = the knowledge of how to live well, and live longer.
This is wisdom I've studied, practised, and continue to learn from some of India's most respected teachers.
And I'm here to share what actually works, starting with what's already in your kitchen.
What Does Ayurveda Cover?
Ayurveda isn't just massage or doshas — it's a complete system, a Traditional Medicine that includes:

-
The functioning of the body
-
Astrology and cosmic influences
-
Ancient texts filled with practical wisdom
Originally passed down orally through chants, songs, and rhythmic verses, some Ayurvedic texts date back to the 15th century BCE, making them among the oldest medical records in existence.
Ayurveda as a Way of Life
Unlike modern medicine, Ayurveda isn't just about treating illness;
it's a way of living in tune with nature.

It focuses on three goals:
-
Healing diseases
-
Maintaining health
-
Achieving Self-Realization
And it's built on two principles:
-
Wholeness: Body, mind, and soul treated as one
-
Individuality: Each person needs personalised care
When imbalance arises, Ayurveda doesn't just suppress symptoms; it restores harmony with treatments designed specifically for you!
Ayurveda and The Romans: A Forgotten Connection
You might think Ayurveda was only practised in India, but history tells a different story.
When Roman traders journeyed along the Silk Road and maritime spice routes, they didn't just bring back spices; they brought knowledge!
Roman physicians studied Ayurvedic texts and adopted herbal remedies, massage techniques, and dietary principles.
Even the famous Roman baths echoed Ayurveda's belief in detoxification through water therapies. Some emperors were rumoured to have consulted Indian sages, seeking longevity and wisdom.
The connection may have faded from common history, but the influence remains.
A Timeless Wisdom
Ayurveda isn't an ancient relic — it's a living tradition.

Whether you're sipping spiced tea, practising mindful breathing, or exploring your unique constitution (dosha), you're tapping into a system that has stood the test of time, cherished from the ancient temples of India to the grand halls of Rome.
