The Hidden Path of Kundalini:
A Journey Through the Five Elements
What if the chakras aren't what you've been told?
What if they're not separate wheels of energy... but a single sacred path?
🔮 The Awakening of Shakti: A Journey Through the Elements
📖 From the sacred wisdom of Sri Saundarya Lahari...
What you're about to read is not theory.
It's a journey, one walked by seekers for thousands of years, whispered from Guru to disciple, encoded in verse and symbol.
I share this for those who feel the call. But know this:
!This path is not meant to be walked alone!
⚠️ Any Kundalini practice must be undertaken with the guidance of a Guru,
for safety, clarity, and true awakening. 🙏
✨ Before We Begin
Close your eyes for a moment.
Imagine standing at the edge of existence itself ... where sound becomes matter, where vibration becomes form.
This is where we begin.
🌀 How Creation Unfolds
In the vast, infinite cosmos, a subtle vibration, spanda, emerges from the stillness of Shakti, the Divine Feminine.
From this vibration, electromagnetic energy radiates outward, manifesting into the Pancha Mahabhutas, the Five Great Elements. 🌍💧🔥🌬️🌌
From the central point of existence, the Bindu, primordial sounds are born.
These sacred syllables, called Bija Mantras (seed sounds), shape the very essence of reality.
As these sounds travel, their frequencies condense into the elements that weave together the fabric of existence.
This is why the elements respond so profoundly to Nada (sound) in the form of mantras. 🎶
🐍 The Chakras as the Path of Kundalini
According to Samaya Tantra, the Chakras are not separate energy centres, they are the path of Kundalini's ascent, the sacred Kulapatha.
Each element is linked to:
-
A Bija Mantra (seed sound)
-
A symbol
-
A color
-
A specific location in the body
Important: Samaya Tantra differs from other tantric texts (Kaula or Mishrit systems). Samaya sees the body as a receptacle of the divine.
There is no mention of Vishuddhi as an element-bearing chakra in this tradition.
Let's walk through them together. 👇
🌱 Mooladhara — The Root of Creation
Element: Prithvi (Earth) 🌍
Our journey, for a better understanding, begins here, at the densest element.
Solid. Stable. Unshakable.
Symbol:🟨 Golden Square
Colour: Golden Light
Bija Mantra: Lam (लं)
This is where Kundalini sleeps, coiled three and a half times around the Swayambhu Linga. The very ground upon which your spiritual ascent begins.
💧 Swadhisthana — The Flowing Waters
Element: Apas (Water) 🌊
More fluid and subtle than Earth, water flows like an underground stream beneath the foundation.
Symbol: 🌙 Crescent Moon
Colour: White Light
Bija Mantra: Vam (वं)
Note: Most texts place water in the Swadhisthana.
However, the phrase 'Kam Api' established that Apas also resides in Mooladhara.
Why? The word Swadhisthana is composed of three roots:
-
Swa = one's own
-
Adhi = own
-
Sthana = abode
So Swadhisthana means "Kundalini's own abode", where she resides.
Being the home of Mahashakti, Swadhisthana does not contain any tattwa (element), nor does Kundalini pierce this centre. She simply circumambulates it three times, then moves upward to pierce Manipura.
🔥 Manipura — The Rising Flame
Element: Agni (Fire) 🔥
At the Solar Plexus, fire blazes forth. This is the realm of transformation, where raw potential ignites into action.
Symbol: 🔻 Inverted Triangle
Colour: Red Light
Bija Mantra: Ram (रं)
This is your powerhouse of transformation, digestion, and inner willpower. 🏆
🌬️ Anahata — The Gentle Breeze
Element: Vayu (Air) 💨
At the Heart Chakra, we meet the Air Element, lighter and subtler than fire.
Symbol: 🔵 Octagon
Colour: Blue Light
Bija Mantra: Yam (यं)
Here, Kundalini glides through the winds of love and compassion, unfurling the wings of your soul. 🕊️💙
🌌 Ajna — The Infinite Sky
Element: Akasha (Ether) and seat of the Mind ✨
At the Third Eye, we enter the boundless space of pure consciousness,
and the subtlest of all tattwas: the mind.
Symbol: ⚫ Circle
Colour: Black Light (containing all colours)
Bija Mantra: Ham (हं)
Here, Kundalini is known as Tripura Sundari, she who gains victory over the three states of consciousness:
-
🌞 Jagrat: Waking
-
🌙 Swapna: Dreaming
-
😴 Sushupti: Deep Sleep
🐍 Kundalini's Sacred Journey: Step by Step
According to Samaya Tantra (also found in the Hamsa Upanishad):
1. The Slumber 🌑 Kundalini remains asleep in three and a half coils around the Swayambhu Linga in Mooladhara.
2. The Awakening 🔥 When she awakes, she begins to reside at Swadhisthana with her mouth facing upward, gazing at the fire in Manipura, emitting a hissing sound.
3. Circumambulation 🌀 Before rising to Manipura, Kundalini circles around her abode in Swadhisthana three times. She does not pierce this centre, it is her home.
4. Piercing Manipura 🔥 She rises and pierces through the fiery core of Manipura.
5. The Point of No Return ⬆️ Once Kundalini crosses Manipura, she will not descend back to the lower centres. The pull upward becomes stronger than gravity itself.
As long as Kundalini has not crossed Manipura, there is always danger of slipping back to slumber in Mooladhara. But after Manipura, she only moves upward.
6. Piercing Anahata 💙 From Manipura, Kundalini ascends and pierces Anahata, a significant step along the Sushumna.
7. Piercing Ajna 🌌 From Anahata, she pierces Ajna, where Akasha is located and where the mind resides.
8. Purification at Vishuddhi 🕊️ Vishuddhi is where purification happens before Kundalini can meet her beloved Shiva. It is not pierced; no element resides here.
This is where the poison is purified, preparing her to move into the subtlest of tattwas.
9. Divine Union at Sahasrara 💫 From Ajna, she moves to Sahasrara, where she merges with Shiva and becomes known as Tripura Sundari,
the most beautiful goddess of the three worlds
(waking, sleeping, and dreaming states of the mind). 👑🌺
🌸 The Two Sacred Thresholds
CenterRole
Swadhisthana: The home of Mahatattwa, Kundalini's own abode. Not pierced.
Vishuddhi: The place of purification, where poison is purified before moving into the subtlest tattwas. Not pierced.
💫 The Final Ascent: Divine Union
Once Kundalini reaches Sahasrara (the thousand-petaled lotus), she merges with her beloved Shiva.
Oneness with the Divine.
Here, she becomes Tripura Sundari, the most beautiful goddess of the three worlds (waking, dreaming, and deep sleep states of the mind). 👑🌺
Once this union is complete, Kundalini descends back to the physical realm, carrying with her the divine radiance that has always been within you. 🔥🌿🌀
🌀 The Practice: Chakrabheda
This mode of worship is called Chakrabheda, an essential part of Devi Upasana.
Through this practice, Mahashakti Kundalini awakens from her slumber, the Kulapatha (path) is cleared for her ascent, and she ultimately unites with Shiva in the thousand-petaled lotus of Sahasrara. 🌸💜
🌟 May this knowledge guide you with clarity, reverence, and inspiration.
🙏 Always seek the guidance of an experienced Guru before engaging in Kundalini practices.
